A New Room for the Kids! |

A story in pictures! |

January, 2008 Randy and I decided we really needed to add on a room for the kids. Our small house was bursting at the seams with piles of toys, clothes and bedding. Sleeping on the hard living room floor was not good for their bodies or their sense of permanency. Construction began - - Marquel worked very hard.
Chip would say "I help. I help." Where is Annie??? Probably on the swing set.
With the help of Angels the room started to take shape.
The kids couldn't quite figure out how they were going to get in and out of "their house". One day Charlie had a piece of paper and a crayon. He wanted to draw a picture, so I told him to draw his new room. How I wish I could find that picture. There were two rectangles with lines (a bridge) between the two "houses". His house had a tall pointed roof. I asked him where he wanted his bed in his new house and he drew the bed as close to the ceiling as he could. He wants to make sure that the water cannot get to his bed.
The area between their room and the porch has been dubbed "Jackson Square". Marquel did an outstanding job with landscaping and furniture arrangement.
Garage sale finds were revitalized for the room. Annie and Marquel (and Chip too) worked hard at sanding the top of a table that they could use in their new room.
The painting is done and the floor is down. The kids thought it was a great place to run and slide.
The room is 12' wide and 36' long (including a 7' deep closet at one end). With bunk beds, dressers, doll house, TV, computer, shelves and table, the room filled up fast.
I did not want to cover over a window into the house, so I made a "stained glass" picture of a Guardian Angel. With a light behind it, it makes the perfect night light for the kids. They can always look over to see their Angel keep watching all night. The first day in their new room - Charlie had
first dibs on the computer -
And the girls immediately found the fun things I had strategically placed for them to play with.
Even Chip got in on the action!
The kids LOVE their new room! A huge thanks to all the "Angels" who helped make this a reality for "our kids".
